RIBA President’s Awards for Research, 2018 – Call for Papers

Interesting for staff and master students:

Invitation to submit research work into this year’s RIBA President’s Awards for Research.  Last year just over 20% of submissions came from overseas and we endeavour to increase this percentage year on year.

The RIBA President’s Awards for Research are intended to promote and celebrate the best of research in the field of architecture and the built environment, in the broadest sense, that contributes to the knowledge, understanding and practice of architecture.  Submissions are particularly welcome and encouraged from practitioners as well as academics.

There are four categories for submissions and awards will be made in each category from three shortlisted entries.  The most outstanding submission will also receive the RIBA President’s Medal for Research.

All abstracts will be published in the RIBA Book of Abstracts (available on the 2017 Winners page) and winning papers will be published in the Journal of Architecture.  The submission categories are:

  • The Annual Theme – Ethics and Sustainable Development
  • Design and Technical
  • Cities and Community
  • History and Theory

Details about the categories and the submission process can be found on the RIBA website.

Work submitted should have been completed after 1st January 2017 and before 3rd June 2018.  The submission deadline is midnight (British Summer Time) on Sunday 3rd June 2018.

The Awards are open to the full range of disciplines linked with architectural related research and present an opportunity to have your work recognised and publicised across a wide range of practitioners and educators within the built environment.

If you have any questions regarding the process, eligibility, categories or the like, please mail to the Research team at research@riba.org.
