Luna Catteeuw wins the Van Hove Award 2018!

Luna Catteeuw has won the Van Hove Award 2018 with her graduation project ‘As Found in Kazanches: the existing urban fabric as a guideline for inner city housing development in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’! The prize is awarded to a graduating design and is open to all students who obtain a degree in architecture or architecture-engineering at a Belgian faculty of architecture, during the academic year of the prize.

Luna’s graduation project was developed within the Streetscape Territories framework in the International Master of Architecture. The subject is the incremental renewal and densification of a partially deteriorating residential area in Kazanches, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The master’s thesis is research and design: the students work on an urban site in different parts of the world, giving them the opportunity to visit, analyze, and eventually propose architectural interventions. Luna’s thesis can be read here.
