Iwo BORKOWICZ wins European Architectural Medals for the Best Diploma Projects!

Iwo Borkowicz (laureate Master of Architecture 2016) wins the European Architectural Medals for the Best Diploma Projects (EAAE Prize for Intensity and Courage in Problem Solving) with ‘A Symbiotic Relation of Cooperative Social Housing and Dispersed Tourism in Havana Vieja‘.

The organizers, UAUIM together with EAAE and ACE seek to acknowledge the BEST DIPLOMA PROJECT in architecture, and to recognize the highest level of design knowledge and skill employed in addressing three influential themes of architectural design:

  • approach to problem solving
  • social and environmental awareness (responsibility and resilience)
  • innovative response and originality

Aims

The aims of the EUROPEAN ARCHITECTURAL MEDALS FOR THE BEST DIPLOMA PROJECTS competition are:

  • to promote quality standards among European and international architecture schools,
  • to raise awareness of the challenges facing future architects and of the need to respond skillfully,
  • to generate discourse on architectural education.

Exhibition

EXHIBITION of about 30 shortlisted BEST DIPLOMA PROJECTS will be organized in November 2016, with all selected entries printed on paper. All four awards will be selected from the pool of exhibited projects.

From January 2017 onwards, the exhibition will travel throughout European schools.
