Benefit ‘Auction of Dreams’ – BC Architects – Festival van de architectuur 17/09

On Sunday, September 17th, the Festival van de Architectuur will close with the ‘Auction of Dreams’. On behalf of the Vlaams Architectuur Instituut, auctioneer Veilinghuis Bernaerts delivers unique objects, drawings and models.
The proceeds of this benefit auction will make a fundamental contribution to the construction of the ‘Centre des Femmes’ in Ouled Merzoug, a new project of alumni BC architects & studies in Morocco.
Ouled Merzoug is situated at the height of an oasis in the desert landscape south of Marrakech. In the same village BC already contributed to the design and construction of a kindergarten and elementary school. The village has no more than 2,000 inhabitants who have been very enthusiastic about the new school.
Alumni Ken De Cooman, Laurens Bekemans, Nicolas Coeckelberghs and Wesley Degreef together form ‘BC architects & studies’; A hybrid design agency. BC architects is a ‘classical’ architectural firm with building assignments at home and abroad. BC studies are conceived as a complementary research agency that also organizes educational workshops and acts as a “consultant” for other architects.
